Well, I'm no Vincent Van Gogh. But I paint mediterranean landscapes. And I prefer abstract and stylized depictions as opposed to realist depictions. Anyone who has ever been to that part of the world - Italy, Greece, Spain, Morocco - knows that the mediterranean is a feeling, a state of mind. No one image can truly capture its essence. Moreover, no realistic depiction of the Mediterranean can substitute for being there, for the feeling one gets when there. The mediterranean is like an emotion - an emotion that one feels only when under mediterranean sun and sky, when one feels its warmth and breathes it air. Rather than attempting to act as a false window, my paintings attempt to convey a feeling.
